Orienteering Event - Wednesday 30th May 2012
Run to Live RC will be holding its very own orienteering event next Wednesday 30th May. The details are as follows:
Start and Finish:
Meet at 7.15pm for registration outside Run to Live in Barnett Wood Lane. Runners will start en mass at 7.30 pm and will finish at 8.30 pm. It will be run on a mixed terrain course, but mainly on pavement around Ashtead.
How it works:
There will be ten checkpoints each with its own number and corresponding letter. The aim is to get to as many of the checkpoints as possible and back to the start within one hour.
Each checkpoint is worth ten points and the winner is the person who gets the most points. In the event there is a draw we will then revert to the fastest time.
Penalties:
Runners are penalised by 10 points for each five minute period they are late back, (so 30 seconds late back will lose you 10 points, 5 minutes and 1 second late will lose you 20 points)
The shortest route around all ten points is just over six miles but runners can choose their own routes and try for as many or as few checkpoints as they like.
Maps and score cards will be handed out on the day. (You will need to bring a pen or pencil or for the more technologically advanced a phone with a camera on it). Score cards must be completed and handed in at the end and results will be published on the website.
Although not essential it would assist greatly if you would let Nicky (info @ runtolive . org . uk) know if you are intending to take part by Monday 28th.
Hope to see you there!
